Seek Alternative Ways to Fight Foreclosure

Apart from government programs that provide housing assistance for homeowners, there are other places where you can get help. In some cases, these are places you’d never thought you’d find the answers.

If you are currently facing foreclosure and don’t know where to look for help, go to chat rooms.

The internet is where almost everyone goes to find answers for questions that are bothering them. If this is the case then, can it provide a solution to the most pressing concern of homeowners today? Can it tell you how to avoid foreclosure? Surprisingly, this is possible. Head on to the local chat rooms where people gather on a regular basis to talk about anything. You’ll never know who the other chatters are. One of them could be a foreclosure expert who can help you out.

This was the case for a foreclosure expert in Dallas. He shares in an article for http://www.biggerpockets.com his amazing story of how a chat room paved the way for him to help someone who is about to lose his home. According to the article, he was online one morning when a guy ranted about a letter sent by a law office informing him of an impending foreclosure on his home. Seeing the need to help, he was able to convince the chatter to meet with him so that they can work on avoiding a foreclosure. Their options led them to file for bankruptcy, which would require a $500 filing fee – something the homeowner doesn’t have. What they accomplished next was unexpected. Through the chat room, they were able to arrange a fundraiser that was attended by more than 50 chatters, and raised $700 to pay for the filing fee. Eventually, the home was saved from foreclosure.

Read the newspaper, you might find someone who can block foreclosure attempts.

Douglas County News Press told a story of a Colorado couple about to lose their home. They were behind their mortgage payments, and rates increased to at least $900 a month – an amount they can’t afford. They were able to pay their lender $3,035 as a last ditch effort to save their house, but the next day, they got a notice of foreclosure from a different lender which is a big financial institution. Desperate for a solution, the husband, after reading a newspaper article about two lawyers who helped a homeowner avoid foreclosure, dialed the number of the lawyers’ office to seek help. They met with the lawyers and sought out the Rule 120 hearing that gives a “small window of opportunity” for homeowners to stop foreclosure. After a quick court process, the county judge ruled in favor of the couple and allowed them to keep their home.

Troop down to the nearest university stadium, there may be a foreclosure workshop.

People who are on the verge of a foreclosure crisis are lining up outside the Florida International University’s Graham Center Ballroom to participate in the “Hope Task Force Workshop,” where they will get the opportunity to learn how to deal with foreclosure. They may even get tips on how to avoid it, plus counseling and loan modifications from lenders and counselors who participate in the event.
